haiti
we all know that haiti is in alot of trouble right now and there are also people that want to help. which makes it alot easier for scammers to take advantage of people when they donate to haiti. It is really easy to find out how to donate to real organizations that are helping haiti. Don't donate to websites that promise you that money will go straight to haiti because they are most likely scammers and if you really want to help do alot of research to see if it is a legit way to get the money you donated straight to haiti. We are all hurt by what has happened in haiti but we must do something to help.

Yeah, it's hard to imagine what it's like for people there right now, tho I bet some Puget Soundoff users have seen a fair share of trauma. Good point on concern for where donations go. There are a few reputable groups that are clearly not scammers.
If you ever want to know whether a charity is real and how much of the money goes to your cause, Charity Navigator is a great place to check. They have a page specifically on Haiti. I see that Yéle Haiti Foundation isn't listed, but Charity Navigator has a page about getting listed.
hHere are some of the reputable organizations taking part in the relief efforts:
• The Clinton Foundation
http://www.clintonfoundation.org
• Doctors Without Borders
http://doctorswithoutborders.org
• Red Cross
http://www.redcross.org
• UNICEF
http://www.unicef.org
• Yéle Haiti
http://yele.org/mission
Haitian born, Grammy award winning musician Wyclef Jean founded Yéle Haiti in 2005. They aren't listed in Charity Navigator (which there may be a decent reason for), but have info at http://www.yele-haiti.org/about/directors.html
• Hope for Haiti Now

Hope for Haiti Now is the MTV associated group that just had a big music entertainment benefit and set up a donation fund that goes directly to some of the groups listed above and a couple others.
