7 Changes, 7 Schools
Four members from the Mayor's Youth Council, Lucas Smith, Lily Clifton, Laura D' Asaro, and Xinyu Wang, proposed 7 Changes, 7 Schools. It goes into 7 schools around greater Seattle and trys to make them more environmentally sound. The group asks for 10 grants to give to kids and their schools for improvement. Before the presentation, to see if this project could really help, they went to Whitman Middle School to speak with the principle. They talked to him to see what the school needed and then applied for a grant. The grant was $250. With this money they went to a local hardware store and bought as many recycling bins as they could. They then Visited Whitman again to place these bins around the school. It got the kids recylcling more and making the school more green. The schools can use the grant for anything, like fluorescent light bulbs. It is a great opportunity for kids and their schools. Now we just have to wait and see what the Mayor will decide to do.
Please watch the video of them presenting, it is now on Puget Sound off!
