I have mixed feeling on this topic. I do feel that we should get to the point where we use reusable bags. It does seem like a waste to get new bag every time we go shopping. I don't however like being forced to pay a tax for the bags. I think that if you go go to a store and use one of the paper or plastic bags at the store the cost for the bag should be added to the total. I guarantee that if this was the case, people would purchase the reusable bags. If this is what is actually what the Mayor is trying to push then I have no problem really. Plus, based on the article, everyone is going to be given a reusable bag before the tax even passes. As a result know one has an excuse anymore.

Man, I just don't know about this one. It seems to me like this will hit those with low income more than anything tlse. It has good intentions but I think we should go about doing this in a different way. Perhaps adding an incentive, like a 1 cent (on the dollar) sales tax reduction if you use re-useable bags.
That way no one is getting hurt by this, except for the city (minus money) but I think in the long run it will work out for everyone's benefit.
What do you think about that?
