My First Album review for 2010
I consider myself a real true fan of hip hop for this very reason. I enjoy listening to the art of Mceeing. For those who are foreing to what an M.C. is, I'll translate it. M.C. stands for two things in hip hop, it could stand for eaither master of ceremonies or mic controller. There have been and are ongoing debates about whats an mc's in hip hop and whats an mc's job. There job is simply letting their voice be heard rapping through a micraphone, weather in the recording booth at a studio or on stage performing shows in front of audiences. They talk (RAP) and if your a fan you listen. MC's deliver ther messeage through the art of rhyme in rap music. Most importantly it's whats being said, that grabs the listeners attention, Many Mc's come in varieties having their own flow style and delivery. But I narrow it down to two types. Theres both good and whack Mc's. For the sake of argument I'll classify whats a good and whack Mcee in my opnion. To me good Mcees are versatyle, having icredable lyricism , is a good freestyler, good writer and keeps listners attetion from beinging to end. Whack Mc's are mainstream heard on radio seen on t.v and appeal only to a commercial audience. They stick to the same common subject matters(Money Clothes cars women). However a real mcee relates to some one with their music, and a real fan of hip hop will support it. Wich leads me to my first album review of 2010. A while ago I bought the group Slaughter House ablum self titlr Slaughter House. This group of four mcees consit of Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Royce Da 5'9 and Cooked I. Each induvidually are unique and together share the same passion for the art of mceeing. Also at one time in their careers each artist had major label deals, unfortunantly they were'nt succesful with the majors. Inspite of ther misfortunes with the music indutries polotics each of them grouped together to record a song.
Ironically called Slaughter House. Soon after they joined forces as a collective to form the group SlaughterHouse. Joe Budden says "Slaughter House the best rap group ever invented". For me listening to the slaughter house album brought back old feelings of how it was to listen to a whole c.d. The whole album is full of dope rhymes, with production that gives the album a raw feel. From begining middle to end of the album you can hear hunger in each artist voice. To me as a fan I enjoy that. If you wan't, go on youtube and check out the slaughter House album. One song that I really liked the most is Pray. It's real deep, especially Joell Ortiz vesrse. In this song Joel explain his life story coming up as a child in poverty through trial and error in such a way, asking god if things will ever get better? I rate this album a 10 it's the only cd. Ive' heard in while that I wasn't bored with listenig to and didn't feel I wasted money on.
