First Thursday Art Walk

Last night I attended the First Thursday art walk. I started out in the OK Hotel. I checked out Bartersauce's new location, two doors down from thier old home at Stir.

I realized I forgot to bring something to trade this month.Bartersauce www.bartersauce.com/ is a project where people can trade in what they want for something quirky, as long as they share a story. I find it is great for birhdays and X-mas. I wish I had something to trade for an inflatable scream (from the painting, not the movie).

It is a great way to trade in the stuff you are sick of for something cooler.  So far I have purged my houseof a Snoopy figurine, and an ugly candle holder. Check out thier site to see what is up for trade!

Bartersauce is cool. I checked it out

Sweet! Thanks for the plug Jaden -- it was nice to see you the other night. Like the site too -- I do Drupal development so it's always nice to see it in action. Hope you do another trade soon -- I just got a candle that looks like a jar of pickled eyeballs. YES!

I really like the share a story part of it.  What types of stories are shared?  Do they relate to the object being traded?

There are lots of stories on the site, ranging from personal to fictional. Below is an example:

Juli's story that came with the Tin Can Lid necklace:

This is a possibly unwearable necklace.  It was created from a tin can lid I found on Glass Beach, in Fort Bragg, Ca.  The color of the background is natural (from saltwater, sand, and whatever other funkiness is floating around out there).

All I did was soldered around the edges (for safety) and stamp the brown bird on it.  The focal is large (think soup can) on an 18" suede cord.  I'm still not sure why I actually made it, but I liked the lid.
