How do I feel about going abroad this summer?
I can't believe I'm going to China in 7 days. Its pretty crazy, it seems that I've been waiting for this moment for almost a year now. I don't know what to expect, but I am scared that my Chinese is going to be terrible. I'm really insecure about my Chinese language skills. I really wanted to go Shanghai, atleast I could be comforted by technology and the city there, but in Ma'anshan I won't have any solace.
Having no crutches will be a hard adjustment, but in the end, it will be more beneficial to me on an educational and spiritual level. My host father is an engineer which is really neat because that is actually the career field I want to go into in college and beyond. From looking at the internet, Ma'anshan looks like a really pretty place and its next to a river, so it can't be all bad. My host brother is 16, and so I will also beable to relate to him well.
I probably won't know what to expect until I'm there, frustrated and confused, so I'll just have to wait and see what is in store for me.
