Hey S.. where do you get off stating those highly questionable "facts"?.. i'm pretty sure that there are NON black families.. that consist of the "normal family structure".. married parents, good jobs, kid(s) are "angels".. and they're church-goers.. but yet and still.. these kids still end up living messsed up lives.. whether they end up becoming drug addicts, homeless, alcoholics, prostitutes, or mass murderers.. which seems to be the norm.. and those are facts.. the latter is just what i've come to notice over time.. or common sense.. whatever tickles your fancy..

Once again, where did you get these facts?? It sounds to me as if these are personal views of yours. Life is about choices--- If someones father or mother for that matter is absent in the home does NOT mean their life is going to be "messed" up. And your logic is not as simple as "common sense"

Wow.. I almost feel disrespected by some of the statements you made.. but it's highly evident to me you will never understand.. one day maybe you'll be able to view a day in the life of a non-white person to really get it.. but what really stood out is you saying the lack of a father figure or male role-model is the reason why crimes are committed.. i never really had a father figure.. my entire inner circle didn't either.. and we're all good.. and again.. you keep using black as if it matters.. other races commit crimes similar to or worse than the one we're debating.. and you know this..

Wow.. the first instance of violence against cops in a very long time, and in a very large magnitude also.. my heart goes out to the afflicted families on both ends of this violent event.. but i never judged cops to begin with.. my thing is.. i don't like them.. because of the stigma's they place on certain individuals and a list of other things they do and don't.. and you keep using black as if it matters.. anybody could've done the same thing.. despite race.. and i read the article. it seems as if this tension started with the killing of an unarmed citizen by an officer..

Hey S.. it's ya boy.. aside from all the back and forth we've been having.. and views you have in regards to certain topics.. i just want to say.. i like you.. you allow me the opportunity to think beyond my normal responses i would usually give to your character type.. and articulate myself without attacking or offending you..

He would be a disappointment. I don't base my opinions on a president off what political party they belong to, I base them off what the president does and how it affects the country. I believe that veterans need more help, not less. I would be very disappointed if he did cut their funding.

Have you had any other issues logging in?

Right on dude! Thanks for the college info. I was the same way and didn't want to do the "college experience" thing. I think classmates would have generally annoyed me....
bryan_a_gordon wrote on 02/3/09 • 2:21pm
Hey, how was your time at Central? I talk to a lot of high kids about their college plans and would be interested in your experience there. Would you recommend it?

Sounds good, I'm still trying to get the hang of this site a little, I've only been a member a couple of days, but it's nice to hear from a conservative that has been here a while. Thanks for giving me the tip, much appreciated.

It is sad to see that there is still ignorance in this world in regards to race. The idea that the minority community has brought poverty upon itself is ignorant of the real and prevalent racism that is embedded in our government today. To argue back and forth about racism is really a waste of time. Racism is real and it is prevalent. It has shaped politics and the culture of our society today. But the word has also been used so many times that it has become almost an obscure idea to many people. But until this country confronts it and deals with it in a real and practical way, it will always be an issue. I can't make you see it, and you cannot tell me that it does not exist because I have lived it.

i understand that you might think i am portraying whiteness in a negative light. but really i am not trying to be "anti-white" or "racist". its difficult to discuss certain issues (such as gentrification) without involving race because really the issues regarding race are deeply rooted in most aspects of america's history. so i apologize if i have come across that way, but i do not apologize for acknowledging the issue of race. as far as being color blind is concerned, i do believe that everyone is equal, i just know for a fact that everyone is not treated equally based on their race. as an african-american who has a darker complexion i am affected by my skin color daily. my goal is not to lash out at 'white people' or to label anyone as racist, but only to point out that there are inequalities in our system of government and that many of them have to do, or are deeply rooted in racial issues. i think that colorblindness implies that we ignore the inequalities that occur because of our racial differences and instead see people in our own eyes as equal. at least thats what i think the word implies . and maybe that's not what you meant. so that could be a misinterpretation on my behalf and your behalf. i totally agree that color does not make anyone better or worse and that all people ARE equal. but i also know that they are not always treated as such in our society and i think that treating people equally AND seeing every one's color as equal rather than not seeing their color at all has a more positive affect and is going a step further than what "color blindness" to me infers. brown tan white... the colors are all just as beautiful.. i think recognizing that is important. not being blind to our differences but instead celebrating them and taking action to make sure that we see AND treat people equally.
i never said that 'you can only be a racist if you are in the majority'. what i did differentiate however, was that if you are in a position of privilege, and i believe the example was the white jury in the oj simpson post, that if your exercise your power based on stereotypes, that would be classified as racist. these are more 'technical terms'. if a person of color were to act a certain way or say something to a white person, because in this society the term 'white' carries a certain privilege with it, it would be called prejudice instead of racist. there are many cases where white people are attacked because of stereotypes or prejudices.. but overall, there isn't as much impact on the majority because of those prejudices as there is on the minorities. that is not to say that it is any worse to treat someone differently on either side, but there are different overall affects and therefore different terms. that's all i was trying to say. i dont think the terms are that important though, as i stated before i was meaning to point out the privilege and power issue that came along with the issue of race in the oj simpson case
lastly, about the gentrification post, what i wrote about is what i saw in my own neighborhood. clearly gentrification is not a black and white issue hence, i said (mostly) upper-middle class whites were moving into my neighborhood. i didn't say anything about white people being bad.. i was only saying that i saw gentrification as unequal and unfair and that i saw race and economics as being very intertwined. i appreciate you taking time to address this.. race is a hard topic to discuss because there are many perspectives and many opinions regarding race and race relations. i am only writing to what i see, and what i have experienced. in no way do i mean to demean any race, any person. so this is why i am taking the time to explain what i meant if it came across in that way to you. but i won't deny the problems that exist. and my hope is that we (being youth/bloggers/people in general) can find a way to work towards better race relations as well as the many other issues that we may be passionate about.

why not just copy stuff from there and paste it here? You come across as negative because the only posts by you are criticisms of other people's blogs, why not contribute to the new blogs on this website? I read that you want to present your side of the issues to the young impressionable youth. A better way to do that might be to product your own stuff, instead of just tearing down everybody else's.

Mr. S, I help run the site and believe me, we 100%, with out a doubt, want you here! I was just going to suggest you add a photo to your account. I also agree with Dwyman, it would be awesome if you posted your own blogs.
Thanks for all the great content you contribute.

First of all, thank you for putting words in my mouth. I keep on stating that Obama isn't a TERRORIST, I don't believe we've really hit the topic of communism and socialism. I don't believe all aspects of socialism are bad honestly. I think that universal healthcare for example is a good aspect of socialism. Many disagree and that is fine, it is a matter of opinion. And your interpretation of what Obama said is so far from what he actually said, it's shocking because you generally bring very intelligent viewpoints to topic. I'll repaste what it is that he said. "Well, I think what Joe meant is exactly what I described which is that if, if our entire economic policy is premised on the notion that greed is good and what's in it for me, it turns out that that's not good for anybody. It's not good for the wealthy, it's not good for the poor, and it's not good for the vast majority in the middle." He said greed is bad. Is this not true? Is the fact that greediness leads to corruption a communist idea?

Mr. S. Thank You for stoutly presenting the other side on PSO. If we only had one viewpoint there wouldn't be much to talk about.
I think that it would be cool if you did a post talking about what true conservatism is. I recently read a the book "Conservatise Me." The author slips my mind, but esentially he goes "conservative" for a month while exploring the true meaning of conservative. In a nutshell, he finds out that there are a lot of definitions and that those of us on the left side of the spectrum may not realize this.
Keep posting and please help us bring some more right thinking individuals to the table to keep the conversations going.

I thought about it but my original intentions to argument were not to leave opinions on impressionable minds, although this notion is something I cherish; it was simply to entertain myself. Yet I do realize that underneath all teenage insecurity there are those individuals that take light in unfavorable logical opinions and regard them as their own over time
Those individuals are the mature and responsible youth of century. Sure, I may preach compromising words to the general population of teens but it doesn't teach them much since they are malleable and bound to forget logic to focus on new "popular" ideas. It seems like a lost cause in my eyes.
