Nuclear Weapons

When the atomic bomb was invented, it was used as a weapon to win WWII. Soon after, Russia developed them, and the Cold War and Arms Race started. These weapons, which can make huge areas unlivable for many years, now are owned by many countries, and this raises a question. Do WMD's make us safer?

I don't believe so, but is there a way to get rid of them in such a way that no one

Beijing and the Olympic Games

Currently in Beijing the government has been very strict about the comings and goings of people in China. The defenses have been beefed up completely with things like ground to air missiles around the play areas. It has been interesting to see people say that the government is just using the Olympics to enforce upon the civilians and that when the Games are over the defenses are going to stay

I'm coming home Seattle, Don't worry

I've had an amazing time in China with my host family. I have changed so much, I can't describe it in words. I'm coming home early in the morning and I'll be back after a 7 hour bus ride, a 2 hour plane flight, a 17 hour plane flight, an overnight hotel stay, and a 4 hour plane flight in the morning. I'll be back on the 31st.

I'm sorry pugetsoundoff that I didn't write in you very

Hello, Seattle

Hey everyone, just writing from China. I have to make this short because the internet randomly loses connection, and I could lose everything that I have written. They only have 56k here. Anyways, I love it in China. I'm learning a lot about the culture, there are hardly any traffic rules here besides the lights, no one signals. I played some savage ping pong today with Simon, Ani, Maxine, an

Hong Kong

We're all in Hong Kong now !  the 10 hour flight was murder, but it was pretty good.  i mean the food was rather decent and the entertainment was PRETTY SWEET.  but my friend Polly ended up getting sick, and threw up several times on the plane.  we're all hoping she's okay.  our next flight leaves in about an hour, and its a 3 hour flight, plus we gotta bus about another 4 hours to the school

Hacienda Hotel

The two days that i've spend here have been amazing.  There were so many new people and all of them all friendly.  i admit at first, the trip was EXTREMELY tiring.  first waking up early at 2 AM .. and then having to sit on the plane for TWO hours .. i didn't even talk with my friends.  i was tired.  after we got to california, our group of 15 people had a little trouble keeping together

Feelings on Finally Landing in China

Tell me guys what you think!! How's your experience with your family now and what are you thinking about doing with your family the next week.

Studying Abroad

I feel like going to cihna is a big step for me. Living with a different family, and on your own, culture awareness, and many other things you can do wrong. I hope to get along with my family, and that I wont start a fight. I am excited to go this summer, to china. Being able to communicate, and getting lost in the big city. I am also worried that my host family wont like me.
